Born on March 5, 1980, in Paris, Renan Luce grew up in Brittany, near Morlaix, where he studied classical piano and then saxophone before teaching himself to play the guitar, on which he composed his first songs. Even before the release of his first album, he was already performing on numerous stages as the opening act for Bénabar, Thomas Fersen, Maxime Le Forestier, Jeanne Cherhal, and Matmatah, including a concert at the Zénith in Paris in June 2006.
In September 2006, he released *Repenti*, his very first album, produced by Jean-Louis Piérot and recorded in the Landes region, Paris, and the ICP studio in… Brussels. Driven by songs with lyrics inspired by everyday life and simple, catchy melodies, the album quickly rose to the top of the charts and sold approximately 800,000 copies, earning gold certification in France and platinum certification in Belgium.

The success of *Repenti* earned Renan Luce two Victoires de la Musique awards in 2008: Best Breakout Album of the Year and Best Breakout Live Artist.
